Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to deal with a fruit fly problem.
I have always lived in a very clean home in suburbia, always in an upscale neighborhood.
It all started when I decided to stock up on fresh produce from a local farmer's market. I filled my kitchen with vibrant fruits and vegetables, eager to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Little did I know, this decision would lead to an unexpected nightmare.
A few days later, I began noticing tiny flies hovering around my fruit bowl.
At first, I brushed it off, thinking it was just a couple of stray insects. But as the days went by, their numbers multiplied. Before I knew it, my kitchen was swarming with these pesky fruit flies.
After confirming that these were indeed fruit flies, I just flipped out. The first mistake I made was rushing out to buy several fruit fly traps. They promised quick results, and I was desperate. Unfortunately, after spending a considerable amount on these traps, I found that while they caught some flies, the problem persisted. The traps seemed to offer a temporary fix but did nothing to address the root of the infestation.
Naturally, I felt frustrated and defeated. Next, I tried every DIY solution I could find online—apple cider vinegar concoctions, wine traps, you name it. My kitchen began to resemble a science experiment, yet the fruit flies remained relentless.
By now, I'm getting educated that there's more to this process than just setting traps. It's extremely important to clean thoroughly and tackle the problem at its source.
I did not begin to see any real positive results until I went online and discovered SayByeBugs. I made my first order of two 16 oz. bottles of their non-toxic spray, which appealed to me in itself. I began spraying around the kitchen, focusing on areas where fruit flies seemed to congregate—near the sink, around the fruit bowl, and even in the trash can.
To my surprise, I started seeing immediate results. The fruit flies began to disappear, and unlike other sprays, there were no toxic chemicals or harsh odors. Just think that a few fruit flies can turn into hundreds in a very short time, so I cannot emphasize enough that you have to be diligent.
I live in California, where fresh produce is abundant year-round, but none of the usual pests bothered me like these resilient fruit flies.
Fruit fly infestations can happen anywhere—restaurants, grocery stores, and yes, even in our own homes. It's usually a hush-hush matter because no one wants to admit they have a problem. But the truth is, nobody is immune from the possibility of this happening to them.

Hello Timmy,
The spray uses a highly effective mix of ingredients (you can check SayByeBugs website for full ingredient list). One part violently reacts with insect’s exoskeleton and exterminates them on contact, and the second part ensures a durable protection that repels fruit flies for days

How do I know if I have fruit flies?

Isabelle,
If you notice tiny flies hovering around your kitchen, especially near ripe fruits, vegetables, or even your trash can, you might have fruit flies. They are attracted to fermenting produce and moist environments. Adult females can lay hundreds of eggs in their short lifespans, so a small problem can quickly become a large infestation. You might also find larvae near overripe fruits or in drains. It's important to act quickly because they reproduce rapidly. Good luck!

I found a few fruit flies in my home and had a professional come in to check and spray, but they didn't find much. Should I leave it alone or try the SayByeBugs spray?

Hello Crystal, SayByeBugs is great to have "just in case." Since fruit flies can multiply quickly, it's wise to be proactive. If you notice any more, you can quickly act and spray around the affected areas. The spray is non-toxic and safe for use around your home, so you don't have to worry about harmful chemicals.

Can the spray be used directly on countertops and in cabinets? Also, can it be used in other areas besides kitchen?

BugGuide
Hello Fran, Yes, SayByeBugs spray is non-toxic, so you can safely use it on all surfaces, including countertops, cabinets, and pantries. Just do not spray it on food you’re planning to eat or accessories you use to prepare or eat your meals. Note that formula includes a hint of natural oils so we recommend conducting a quick test on a small, hidden area to make sure it leaves no stains before applying it more broadly. Let us know how it works for you!

I'm freaking out! I only found a few, but I'm going crazy—they're everywhere! My pets are always in the kitchen, and I don't know if they are affected as well. Will this product hurt them if they come into contact with it? And does it affect other bugs?

Hello Lynn, Fruit flies are generally harmless to pets, but they can be quite a nuisance. Rest assured, SayByeBugs spray is completely pet-safe. It's non-toxic even if your pets come into contact with it. The spray is designed to eliminate fruit flies but also works on other home pests like ants, silverfish, mites, bed bugs and other insects.

Very helpful, thank you! We've had these pests for almost a year, trying everything we could. Not fun when you're big and pregnant and want to enjoy your kitchen. I unfortunately had to bring my brand new baby home to a house with fruit flies.... We moved two days ago and got rid of infested items. Washed and dried every area of home and then sprayed around with this spray. I haven't seen a single fruit fly or had any issues. And I'm really glad this spray is safe for my daughter and my pet.
