Never did I imagine that I'd be battling a gnat problem in my own home.
I've always prided myself on keeping a spotless house in a quiet suburban neighborhood, always in an area where such issues seemed unlikely.
It all began when I decided to bring a touch of nature indoors by purchasing a variety of houseplants from a reputable nursery. My living room was transformed into a green oasis, and I couldn't have been happier. Little did I know that this decision would lead to an unexpected ordeal.
A few days later, I started noticing tiny insects flying around my plants.
At first, I dismissed them, thinking they were just harmless bugs that came with the territory. But as days passed, their numbers grew exponentially. Before I knew it, my home was teeming with these pesky gnats.
After confirming that these were indeed fungus gnats, I just flipped. My first mistake was rushing out to buy several gnat traps. They promised swift results, and in my desperation, I believed them. Unfortunately, after spending a significant amount on these traps, I realized that while they caught some gnats, the core problem remained unresolved. The traps offered a temporary fix but did nothing to address the root cause of the infestation.
Naturally, I felt overwhelmed and defeated. Next, I tried every DIY remedy I could find online—homemade vinegar traps, soapy water solutions, baking soda down the drains, you name it. My home started to resemble a makeshift laboratory, yet the gnats didn't seem to be bothered at all.
By now, I understand that solving this issue required more than just setting traps. It was crucial to thoroughly clean my apartment, remove the humidity and tackle the problem at its source.
I didn't begin to see any real progress until I I went online and stumbled upon Say Bye Bugs I ordered two 16 oz. bottles of their non-toxic spray, which immediately appealed to me. I began applying it around my home, focusing on areas where gnats seemed to congregate—near the plants, windowsills, and even plant saucers.
To my amazement, I started seeing immediate results. The gnats began to disappear, and unlike other sprays, there were no toxic chemicals or harsh odors. Considering that a few gnats can multiply into hundreds in a short time, I cannot stress enough how important it is to act diligently.
I live in Florida, where humidity is high and houseplants thrive, but none of the usual pests bothered me like these resilient gnats.
Gnat infestations can occur anywhere—offices, nurseries, and yes, even in our own homes. It's often a topic people avoid discussing because no one wants to admit they have a pest problem. But the reality is, none of us are immune to this possibility.

Hello Timmy,
The spray uses a highly effective mix of ingredients (you can check SayByeBugs website for full ingredient list). One part violently reacts with insect’s exoskeleton and exterminates them on contact, and the second part ensures a durable protection that repels gnats for days

How do I know if I have gnats?

Isabelle,
If you notice tiny flies hovering around your home, especially near ripe fruits, plants, or wet areas, you might have gnats. They are attracted to fermenting produce and moist environments. Adult females can lay hundreds of eggs in their short lifespans, so a small problem can quickly become a large infestation. It's important to act quickly because they reproduce rapidly. Good luck!

I found a few gnats in my home and had a professional come in to check and spray, but they didn't find much. Should I leave it alone or try the Say Bye Bugs spray?

Can the spray be used directly on countertops and in cabinets? Also, can it be used in other areas besides kitchen?

BugGuide
Hello Fran, Yes, Say Bye Bugs spray is non-toxic, so you can safely use it on all surfaces, including countertops, cabinets, and pantries. Just do not spray it on food you’re planning to eat or accessories you use to prepare or eat your meals. Note that formula includes a hint of natural oils so we recommend conducting a quick test on a small, hidden area to make sure it leaves no stains before applying it more broadly. Let us know how it works for you!

I'm freaking out! I only found a few, but I'm going crazy—they're everywhere! My pets are always in the kitchen, and I don't know if they are affected as well. Will this product hurt them if they come into contact with it? And does it affect other bugs?

Hello Lynn, gnats are generally harmless to pets, but they can be quite a nuisance. Rest assured, Say Bye Bugs spray is completely pet-safe. It's non-toxic even if your pets come into contact with it. The spray is designed to eliminate gnats but also works on other home pests like fruit flies, ants, silverfish, mites, bed bugs and other insects.

Very helpful, thank you! We've had these pests for almost a year, trying everything we could. Not fun when you're big and pregnant and want to enjoy your kitchen. I unfortunately had to bring my brand new baby home to a house with gnats.... We moved two days ago and got rid of infested items. Washed and dried every area of home and then sprayed around with this spray. I haven't seen a single gnat or had any issues. And I'm really glad this spray is safe for my daughter and my pet.
